Did you know Zwift is a unicorn company – as in it is worth over a billion dollars?
Well, if you didn’t, now you do.
And so you’d think, if you weren’t otherwise informed, that a company worth over a billion big bucks would have it’s act together sufficiently that exiting the game and being taken back to the main wouldn’t be that big of a deal.
Alas, that is the new big news today. Yes, Zwift finally doesn’t kick you out of the whole app when finishing a ride. That’s just $620m worth of investment. Money well spent, I think you’ll agree. Now imagine if they were worth 2bn. We might even get ghost riders or >30 day leaderboards.
Ahh, a man can dream.
Anyway, I wasn’t planning on Zwifting tonight. If the weather was nice I had planned on getting outdoors. But lo-and-behold, I ended up working a little late – see, I also do software dev, and shipping features is part and parcel of my job. That’s why I feel fine being merciless over ripping Zwift about such a basic feature as that one. I hope they gave the unpaid intern who hit that milestone a full time paid position.
Right, no seriously, I’m going to stop ripping on them.
Where was I? Oh yes, I had to work late. And my legs are still a bit sore (boo-hoo), so I thought I’d stay indoors. And I know I said I’d do RGT instead, but I still am yet to check if that has workouts that are easy mode… where as I know Zwift has.
And besides all that, if I’d have gone outdoors or ridden RGT tonight I’d have missed the launch of the most exciting new feature in the past 5 years of indoor cycling software technological progress.
So, I feel vindicated. But my legs still feel tired.
If it’s nice tomorrow I’m definitely going out. I believe it’s supposed to be. I believe I am also supposed to be finishing early as well, because of working late several nights this week.
Right, I feel like a bit of a s**t for ripping on Zwift so much today. All in jest. Nice to see they’ve answered user feedback, and hopefully it’s a sign of things to come.
