Gotta keep it fairly quick today, only just finished work and off out for my tea in less than an hour. I can almost hear you saying: “that’s fine, you write too much anyway”. I don’t take it personally.
Had all been well today I might have opted for another of the Norseman series – a repeat of Workout 4 I think. However my legs weren’t in it. At least, I didn’t think they were. They kinda tricked me.
So, mentally at least, before I got on the bike I was looking for something a little easier. Quite time pressed also, something around the 50 minute mark was looking ideal. There is always the trusty SST session, but I’ve kinda over done that (not physically, just bored of it) so was looking for something somewhere between SST and Active Recovery. The 4wk FTP Booster Week 1 Day 1 – HIT 80% FTP #1 session seemed to tick that box.
I have to say, after the warm up and the first 5 minute effort I was ready to be done.
Weirdly, my legs had woken up and I was somewhat regretting not doing the Norseman repeat, but even so, when it dawned on me that I still had to do ~20 minutes of tempo work I wasn’t exactly brimming with joy. Fortunately Metallica saw me through, and I’m not usually a fan of the ol’ rock music.
The session itself wasn’t so bad. Something new (I think), and therefore not quite as dull as these things can be. I can’t think I’d be racing to do it again.
No idea what I’ll do tomorrow. Kinda depends how much I eat tonight. And that’s not to imply I’ll try and work it off tomorrow, but rather I’ve found that lately, if I over indulge then the next day I am paying the price in terms of fatigue / higher heart rate.
Anyway, I’m off to fill my face full of Thai food.
