A good week or so’s rest, and here we are once more.
As it stands I actually don’t feel quite so well rested – physically at least. Yesterday I did a lovely fell walk up Parlick and Fairsnape, something I did last year and have been really keen to repeat.
Prior to that I’ve been fully resting and recovering with a family holiday to Tenerife. Getting away from the computer was a God send. It let my body rest up as best it’s going to get, and that was beneficial to see where my aches and pains remained on my return.
Well, as it happens, most are (or were) gone.
The strange twitching in my left thumb had gone – but now that I’m back it has returned. This is almost certainly RSI from a weird keyboard shortcut I’ve been spamming in an online game I play. Whoops. As I’m aware of this, I have now remapped that key binding, so hopefully it fades again.
The right shoulder pain had completely gone. Amazing.
But now that too is back again, which implies it is entirely down to seat position at the computer. Now that I know the cause, I can properly address. For now I am standing at the desk, so let’s see if that has any discernible impact.
The left arm pain remains. That never went away.
My wife believes this is tendinitis. I’m less certain. Regardless, a GP visit is required, sadly.
With these issues in mind, today was my first proper day to get back on the bike and even though it has been, and still is, very pleasant outside, I chose to remain indoors and do a rather dull structured workout session on the turbo.
I just can’t risk doing any more damage right now.
The other bummer is that yesterday’s fell walk has absolutely thumped my thighs. They feel so tense right now, it’s almost like I was back when I first started cycling. The tightness is bizarre.
Anyway, that was why I didn’t race today. There’s the new June Zwift Racing events to get stuck in too – I believe it’s the Hilly Route in Stage 1. I will get it done, but I’m targeting Saturday presently.
Hopefully I will ride again tomorrow, although I’m not quite sure what that session will be just yet. I’m not feeling ready to go guns blazing. Ease back in, that’s the idea.
Mostly all good then. Hopefully the NHS come good and miracle away my left arm pain and then proper normal service can resume apace.
