For tonight’s ride I used Zwift’s 10-12wk FTP Builder program, repeating Week 9 Day 1. I don’t yet think I have truly completed this ride, but more on that in a moment.
Tonight on Zwift it was exceptionally busy due to Thanks Giving.
I really wish I had the chance to take part in the Thanks Giving group ride – it had over 3000 riders! – but alas, 3pm conflicted with work.
Even so, New York had 4000+ riders online, which is pretty unusual for ~4pm on any other week day.
As above, I have yet to complete the full workout schedule on this ride. At least, to the very best of my knowledge.
The reason for this is that it’s fairly tedious.
Pedaling away at 130w for 25 minutes at a time is really, really repetitive.
I’d kinda expect not to break a sweat on a ride like this. All things considered.
But that’s not the case.
I sweat just as much on these rides as I seem to on the harder ones.
OK, well, maybe not just as much, but it’s certainly not a dry one.
I’ve done things a little backwards this week.
That was in part due to last week being a bit messy. As I’d skipped the Sunday climb then by the time it got to Tuesday’s regular ride, I was feeling fresh enough to jump right into a harder workout.
Yesterday was intense, as well, so tonight I took it nice and easy ahead of the weekend.
One nice thing was hitting the 3 hour weekly riding goal. This came unexpectedly, and I nearly missed the screenshot.
Well on track this week.
Also, with it being Black Friday week (ridiculous, I know), I’ve ended up absolutely spanking the credit card on Xmas gifts and stuff like that.
Along the way I have finally ordered a replacement video capture card.
Last time I went for the Razer Ripsaw HD. Alas, that ended up being a bit of a fail.
This time I’ve gone for the Elgato Game Capture HD60 Pro. I’m hoping that this is a bit more successful ahead of this weekend’s climb.
OK, so 489 calories done in 1h 10 minutes.
Another 32km on the board takes me up to 92.3km on the week so far. All good.
Tomorrow will be a rest day before going into Saturday’s ride. I’m not sure what that will be, just yet. I’m considering doing the 2x 15 minute FTP ride.
Is that a bad idea before going into a hard climb on Sunday?
Have to wait and see. Tomorrow night will be a beer or two, followed by trying to get this video capture thing sorted out. Fingers crossed.
How’s your week been so far?
