Advent of Cycling – Day 1 – Spinner Time

Due to me forgetting that Tuesdays are fairly busy days at work, I started at my regular time but realised my final meeting of the day went on well passed my bed clocking-off time. With that in mind I figured no big deal, I’d do an hour on the bike during my dinner break. Or as most people across the world know it: lunch time.

But given that my previous ride pushed me perhaps a little too hard, I decided to bring the pacing back down recovery pace. What this means is that the ride itself was fairly run of the mill. Not a lot actually happening … but I did break a sweat, and as I pushed myself to keep up 100rpm rather than my usual 95rpm, I managed to get a higher heart rate than usual.

Going into this one I had oddly tense calves.

Why?

I have no idea.

One thing I’ve now done is bought a sit / stand desk. Maybe it was all the funny positions I had to sit in whilst building the darned thing last night that led to the bad legs. It surely can’t be cycling related as the last ride was Saturday. And I felt right enough after that. Hopefully just an odd blip.

One thing I said I would do in my weekly review was do an “advent of cycling”. The idea here is to ride every day for 24 days.

This has me off on the right foot. I’m not planning on doing an hour every day, but just something every day is better than nothing. Especially at this pacing, which is easy enough to do something every day without risk of over training.

Ho ho. Happy Monday.

No, wait it’s Tuesday. Well, happy Tuesday.
