Throat Punch

Felt fine Thursday. Took a rest day yesterday. Felt good all day, so decided to push the intensity up a notch. Using one of the FTP Builder workouts I’ve done before that goes through some ramps from recovery, through endurance, and up to tempo. Or, in terms I understand, from grey to blue to green.

Not going to lie, it felt nice to be overtaking people for a change. And the Garmin reported over 500 calories burned in the workout, even if Zwift reported less.

I enjoyed this session.

And then shortly after coming off the bike I’ve got a terribly sore throat. It started before I’d eaten, so it can’t be food related. It’s possibly its related to my youngest having a bad cold a few days back, but the timing seems unusual. I’m thinking it’s all tied in to how I’ve been feeling over the last few weeks.

One thing I’ve been really conscious of is pushing myself too hard and risking prolonging the time I’m unable to ride at my usual levels. Maybe I’ve overdone it tonight. Perhaps I should have kept on at endurance levels and no higher. Its just so dull.

Or maybe this is to be expected in pushing harder and is totally unrelated to the past few weeks. Though this feels like I’m trying to justify my own inability to refrain from jumping the gun. Frustrating.
