Tired Thighs

This afternoon’s ride was my first on Zwift in a while now. And given the choice, I’d have had a pop on GT 5 Bike instead. There’s been a recent update to GT 5 Bike which apparently makes it easier to get setup. Unfortunately GTA 5 also updated recently, and based on the error I got, the bike mod needs to be updated yet further to work with the newer game version. Say what you want about Zwift, at least the core game experience just works.

If I’d have had the chance, I would have completed the next Garmin workout using the 530 connected to the Tacx Neo, and GTA. I haven’t ever tried the Garmin for indoor training so have no idea how well that would have worked. Today’s workout was a solid hour in zone 2. So given that I had to Zwift instead, I picked an FTP Builder recovery workout and did that instead.

As ever with these active recovery rides, the only real thing of note was that I magically managed to cover 30km in an hour, whilst averaging 140w and climbing over 300m. Try doing that outside. I wonder how far I’d have covered on GTA, given things like wind and rolling resistance and so on. Maybe now that the nights are starting to draw in, I’ll find out fairly soon.

At some point this week I really need to do the ramp test. Right now, however, my legs don’t want to do it. Mentally I’m not really in the mood for it, either, but fundamentally my legs are not fresh enough to do a hard ride. I’m think realistically I need two consecutive rest days before taking that ramp on. The issue being that overall my legs feel tired, and in particular my thighs feel tense. Perhaps I’m over doing it, even with these easy rides.
