Continuing with the (potential) startings of a new morning routine, I managed to rouse a little earlier than yesterday and be dressed and ready to cycle by 07:40. Unsure what workout to complete, I opted for another jaunt of the Sweet Spot Training session I completed yesterday morning. Maybe I need to pre-plan the night ahead. It’s no good having too many details to resolve at such an early hour.
By getting on at 07:40, and given that the SST workout is 50 minutes, I would therefore be off at approx 08:30, which would give me a better chance to get showered, dry, and help with getting the kids out of the house and off to school / nursery. This worked well enough. Better than yesterday, where I finished up at about 08:45, which didn’t give me much of a chance to help out with anything.

Somewhat unexpectedly, today’s 50 minutes seemed to go faster than yesterdays. Not sure why that was. Not that I mind. My legs definitely felt more tired from the get go today, and I was concerned that by the later half of the workout I’d be struggling to keep a cadence of 90-95rpm as the workout recommends. I definitely did feel it, but managed to see the workout through with less cadence difficulty than I’d expected.
Again today’s workout / ride was done early not just because I’m (thinking of) adopting a new routine. I am out for my tea later this evening, and strongly suspect the 500 calories of pre-breakfast work will be smashed into oblivion by a hearty starter, main (pizza), and possibly dessert. Oh, and a beer. Not overly concerned by this sort of thing. Definitely think cutting out alcohol aside from when eating out has been the bigger factor in my continued weight loss.

Lastly for today, it’s all about tomorrow. Well, I can either carry on as usual and do another early morning ride. This may be an active recovery ride – an hour or so, but low intensity. Or, I could do yet another SST session. Or maybe even find a different workout, and do that instead.

But during my workout this morning, I managed to find a Crit City event at 16:45 GMT on Friday afternoon. All being well, I’m hoping to start early on Friday and then finish early and get involved in that. It’s 15km, and there’s only about 7 riders (I think) signed up for Category C. Not sure how I’ll fare, under the circumstances, but really hoping to get involved.
Let’s see what happens.
