Sad Sack With A Bad Back

Somehow or other I have managed to pull my left shoulder muscle… or some part of that area of muscle. I’m not absolutely sure but I think I did it on Sunday when lifting some boxes. I didn’t feel anything at the time, but yesterday I was walking around like Robocop, trying not to turn my head left.

Anyway, it’s not massively subsided today but ibuprofen helps. I figured I’d do something easy on the bike so as not to agitate it. And by and large that did work, except a couple of times when I leaned forwards and irritated it.

The ride itself was classic 12 Week FTP Builder fodder. Nothing strenuous. It’s about the only Zwift ride for which I don’t need a towel. The sweatband is sufficient.

Even so, I’m wondering if I ought to repeat this again tomorrow if I’m still on the tablets. Frustrating, but definitely better than getting a bone shaking outdoors, and probably sensible if nothing else.

On the plus side it did mean I was able to burn through 45 minutes of my YouTube playlists and backlog. There are many advantages to this indoor malarky.

  1. Must be the week for backs going out. I was sat at traffic lights yesterday on the way to work and thought “saddle and stem on the new bike actually aren’t too bad” (stem is shorter than other bikes and saddle is wider), then 30 seconds later, light goes green and I take off out the saddle and pop goes the back!

Missus has her back acting up after riding her ebike to work, trying the saddle higher to see if that helps.
